Northern Ireland’s first premium craft gin, ShortCross, is to feature in the all new, cosy Irish Gin Garden at the Belfast Craft Beer Festival 2018.

ShortCross gin is distilled at the Rademon Estate Distillery in Downpatrick and is inspired by the surrounding gardens and Forrests of the estate. Wild clover, elderflowers, elder berries, orange, cassia, juniper and coriander all contribute to the highly aromatic, smooth finish which has come to be favoured by gin lovers the globe over.

Fiona Boyd-Armstrong of ShortCross Gin said of their involvement with the festival,

“When we heard that the Belfast Craft Beer Festival were planning to host a gin Garden this year we couldn’t resist but to get involved. Brining our gin and the many different serves in which it is available, to an audience of gin enthusiasts is a very exciting prospect for us. We can’t wait to show everyone what we have in store for them”.

Bruce Mansour, Founder and Director of the Belfast Craft Beer Festival said of working with ShortCross,

“Since it’s inception in 2012, ShortCross Gin has won the hearts and taste buds of gin lovers the world over. So when we realised that the distillery was a mere 30 minutes drive from the festival, we simply had to get them involved this year.

The ethos of the Belfast Craft Beer festival is one of supporting local brewers and distillers as well as local produce in general. The entire festival really is a demonstration of the wealth of talent and produce available in Northern Ireland and Ireland, of which ShortCross is a perfect example”.

Michelle Shirlow CEO, Food NI, commented on the festival,

“We are delighted to see local cider, beer and gin companies taking part in this event. The brewing and distilling industry in Northern Ireland has grown rapidly in recent years, and has received regional, national and international recognition. We have, of course, a very vibrant cluster of companies producing innovative beverages including over 30 craft breweries. Our cider producers have also won a string of international awards as well as the well-deserved acclaim from cider experts. And our gin, whiskey and vodka producers are also making an impact in markets beyond these shores. Events like this demonstrate that Northern Ireland truly has a world class cluster of local producers and this is an ideal event to Taste the Greatness of Northern Ireland.”
